Myopic Posture

Myopic PostureHow does your eyesight affect your posture? People who are nearsighted (myopic) or have low vision tend to lean their head forward in an effort to see. To compensate for this head leaning they then pull their chest back and round their shoulders. To compensate for this movement of the chest and shoulders these people tend to push their pelvis forward. To compensate for the pelvis pushing forward they then tighten their hamstrings and lock their knees. All of this adds up to what we call “myopic” posture. Now the vision problem is compounded by tension and pain caused by this posture. What can be done?
