Does juicing improve eyesight? For those of you working hard to improve your vision wouldn’t it be great if you could boost your natural vision improvement program with something other than eye exercises? We are sure you have heard many great things about the amazing health benefits of juicing, but how can it help maintain and improve eyesight?
Does Juicing Improve Eyesight?
To explain how juicing could help improve eyesight you first need to understand the basic concept that we are all made up of tiny cells. I am sure many of you feel that this is an obvious thing to say, but few of us grasp its importance beyond a science exam at school.
We have all heard the saying: “You are what you eat!” However, we would refine that statement to “Your cells are what eat!” Those tiny cells are the building blocks of your body and if you feed them the right nutrition they will sustain a healthy body as a whole.
If you were to build a brand new house that you want to last for 80 years or more withstanding all the elements, you would choose the best materials available on the market. Yes, it might be more expensive in the short run but over time your investment pays off. The same is true for the body and in this case the eyes.
So why juicing?
There are two main reasons why juicing can help get more nutrients into the body.
- Higher volume of nutrients
- Quicker delivery system
Of course a healthy daily diet of fruits and vegetables are essential for healing and well being. However, it can be very difficult to consume the large amount of nutrients needed to boost the bodies health and eyesight. By juicing you’re removing the fiber and bulk from your food allowing you to consume more nutrients. Secondly, by having the nutrients in liquid form you bypass the stomachs need of churning the food to extract the nutrients. This allows the body to absorb the rich nutrients much quicker.
How does juicing improve eyesight?
There are 3 nutrients essential for good vision Lutein, Zeaxanthin and betacarotene. None of these are produced by the body so they need to be consumed in our food. The best sources of these essential eye nutrients come from fruits and vegetables.
Lutein and Zeaxanthin line and protect the macula from blue and UV sun rays. A good source for them is dark, green, leafy vegetables like Kale and Swiss Chard.
Betacarotene is essential to the health of the retina and specifically for phototransduction. Phototransduction is the process in which light is converted into electrical signals. Those signals are sent to the brain to create a visual image. Great sources of beta carotene are brightly colored fruits and vegetables such as carrots.

You’ve got me interested in juicing once again. I would like to find out what your favorite juice recipe for eye health is. Is it true that you should’t mix fruit and veggies in your juice?
Thanks
Really glad we could be of assistance! It’s ok to mix fruits as it can add some sweetness to the vegetable juice. However,it’s more of a case of how much fruit and which kind. Enjoy! 🙂
